This years Hollywood Forever Cemetary is celebrating their 25th Year Dia de Los Muertos Celebration!
The theme of this years event is Animal Spirits, Tonas & Nahuatls!
Our Altar is dedicated to the unique Animal spirit of the dragonfly. It holds significant cultural symbolism and spiritual meanings in various cultures such as Japan, Native American traditions, China, and Europe.
The colors of the dragonfly, such as blue, green, yellow, and purple, represent different spiritual qualities and are associated with specific energy centers or chakras.
Our Altar embodies the traditional 4 elements as well. Air, (Papel Picado), Earth (Flowers), Water (Cool water Altar covering) & Fire (Candles).
The Altar is decorated with dragonflies that symbolize your guardian angels. Each ancestor is decorated with Angel wings & can symbolize courage, wisdom, good luck, and spiritual growth, serving as a reminder to connect with one’s inner self and trust intuition.
The spiritual symbolism of the dragonfly is often associated with transformation and change. Across different cultures, the dragonfly holds deep symbolic meanings.
In Japan, it represents joy, agility, and prosperity. Native Americans view it as a messenger of wisdom and enlightenment. In Chinese culture, the dragonfly symbolizes power, strength, and good luck. When a dragonfly lands on you, it signifies personal transformation, receiving messages from the Divine, reconnecting with nature’s wisdom, and recognizing the connection to something greater than oneself.
Beyond cultural interpretations, the dragonfly is also considered a spirit animal in spirituality. As a spirit animal, it signifies adaptability, resilience, and the ability to navigate through life’s challenges with grace and ease. It reminds us to embrace change and transformation as an opportunity for growth and personal development & why for this Muertos Season we chose it as our Animal spirit!
The dragonfly’s fleeting and ephemeral nature reminds us to live in the present moment and appreciate the beauty and wonder of life. Its iridescent wings symbolize the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of embracing our own unique qualities and talents.
The dragonfly encourages us to let go of the past, embrace the present, and trust in the unfolding of our own journey.
Thank you for visiting our Alma de Libelulas Altar #39
